Some time ago our excellent Social Secretary Andy McLaren suggested we have a New Year event to liven up January, which can be a very dreary month. The event he suggested was a Ceilidh, a traditional Scottish social event involving folk music, dancing and storytelling. The evening was to be held at Crondall Village Hall, and the music to be provided by the excellent folk band ‘Innister’.

The event got off to an interesting start with a deluge of rain greeting the 90 odd attendees, but the organisers were not deterred and soon had the hall set up and ready for the entertainment to begin, with the Scottish themed raffle organised, the Saltire in place and the band warmed up!
The guests entered into the theme, many arriving in a plethora of shirts, skirts, ties and kilts of many different tartans, and everyone took part in a succession of Scottish reels such as ‘The Gay Gordon’, ‘Strip the Willow’ and ‘The Canadian Stump’.
The evening seemed to end far too soon, but everyone agreed that it had been a brilliant evening enjoyed by all, and was a credit to the effort but in by Andy in arranging it. Yet again the social side of the choir came to the fore in further developing the unique camaraderie enjoyed by Hart Male Voice Choir!
