Our St Patrick’s Day concert at St Joseph’s in Aldershot was a truly memorable occasion, set within the beautiful surroundings of the Grade II listed church. We were delighted to share the stage with the talented St Joseph’s Primary School Choir, whose enthusiasm and charm lit up the entire evening. It’s no surprise that the school is regularly rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted — their young singers brought energy, confidence, and a wonderful sense of joy to every piece.
Both choirs performed individually and then joined forces for several combined numbers, filling the church with a rich, uplifting sound. A particular highlight was our joint performance of Coldplay’s Fix You, which captured the spirit of the night perfectly.
The musical talent didn’t stop there. We were treated to a beautifully played rendition of Londonderry Air by Daniel, a former St Joseph’s pupil, on the cello, accompanied by our own Emily Hinchliff on violin. Their performance was moving, elegant, and warmly received by the packed audience.
With not a spare seat in the pews, the evening raised much‑needed funds for both the school and the church — a testament to the generosity and community spirit of everyone who attended.
Perhaps the most touching part of the event came afterwards, when the children wrote heartfelt letters to the choir. Their words say more than we ever could about the impact of singing together:
- “You sounded absolutely amazing, especially the Mermaid song. It was cool and you did those dips while you sang.”
- “You inspired me to continue singing when I am older, because no matter how old you are, singing never gets old.”
- “Thank you for singing with us. You are all very talented and you should all be proud.”
- “We were astonished by the noise you made. Thank you for giving up your time to sing with us.”
- “Thank you for singing those Irish songs. My Mum was in tears.”
- “My favourite part was when we all sang together. Happy St Patrick’s Day and Happy Easter!”
