Hart Male Voice Choir were delighted to join Romsey, Cowbridge ( South Wales ), Swindon and Rushmoor male voice choirs choirs for a ‘ Men and Magnificent ‘ concert at Romsey Abbey during the July Romsey Summer Festival. This special concert in aid of Parkinson’s UK was organised by Romsey Male Voice Choir and hosted by TV presenter and charity activist Esther Rantzen.
The beautiful Romsey Abbey was packed to full capacity with over 500 audience members who enjoyed a rousing and emotional evening of classic Male Voice Choir anthems as well as a varied selection of melodic favourites chosen by the individual choir’s music directors.
The power and quality of nearly 250 choristers voices was best demonstrated when all five choirs joined together to deliver roof raising renditions of the dramatic Welsh anthem ‘ Gwahoddiad ‘ sung in Welsh and by way of contrast the American Civil War song made famous by Elvis Presley ‘‘ An a American Trilogy ‘.
These were just two of a twenty-two song concert programme supported by a wonderfully enthusiastic audience. The whole evening produced a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Romsey MVC organisers are expecting to make a donation of about £8000 to the charity Parkinson’s UK, which is a great result from a really well organised event enjoyed by all the choirs and audience members.
