As reported earlier in the year, the choir had planned a recruitment drive to recapture our numbers following the Covid 19 pandemic. This plan was activated in the spring with live recruitment drives in both Farnborough and Fleet. The end result was the signing up of five new choristers with another two to be hopefully signed up soon. These new choristers bring our numbers back up into the mid-fifties with hopefully further recruits prior to the end of the year, with further work planned for the near future.
Our AGM in June saw a new Chairman replacing the retiring Mike Morgan, with the choir now safe in the hands of Eamonn O’Rourke. Eamonn is no stranger to the job, having been Chairman for previous spells and he is supported by a strong, experienced group of committee members.
In May the choir was delighted to welcome Romsey Male Voice Choir to take part in a combined choir concert, in the beautiful Holy Trinity Church in Guildford. Both choirs sang a set of songs on their own before they came together, with over eighty choristers literally raising the roof. Our next performance will be at St Peter’s Church in Wrecclesham, on Saturday August 19th, in what promises to be a truly enjoyable evening. Hopefully we’ll see you there!
